Jonathan Hart, LPC

Jonathan Hart serves as the Assistant Director of Avenues Counseling. He received his Master of Arts in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary and served as an Associate Pastor of Youth and Christian Education for several years before entering the counseling field professionally. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri and Jonathan has completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

“I provide individual and couples counseling to adults and adolescents. I work with relationship issues of many kinds, including: family of origin issues, abuse and its after-effects, marriage and pre-marital counseling, communication, domestic abuse, controlling relationships, anger management, parenting, and men’s issues (sexuality/addiction, power/control, understanding women, father issues).

I love to engage with hurting people and to rediscover the hope in God’s grace that pain so often obscures. I focus on meeting people where they are in their life and struggle, and on walking with them through it. I have a wide range of experience with people from many walks of life. I have lived and worked in both urban and rural areas, in both blue- and white-collar circles, both as a civilian and in the military. This gives me a unique capacity to understand many different people and their experiences.
My counseling grows out of my Christian beliefs and my professional training and experience. I am also able to maintain a profound respect for the beliefs of my clients, no matter what their religious affiliation or lack thereof.”

Melinda Seley, LPC

Melinda is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri, with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary and a B.E. in Computer Engineering from Vanderbilt University. Prior to pursuing her passion of caring for hurting people via counseling, she worked for several years as a professional engineer.  Melinda also has experience as a therapist at an eating disorder treatment center.

“I have experience working with a range of issues including those relating to eating disorders, body image, depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, grief and loss, family-of-origin issues, marital conflict, perfectionism, anger, and managing stress.

I care deeply about people and love the uniqueness of each of our stories, personalities, passions, and context of life.  We were made to be known and connected in relationship; however, fear, shame, and hurt often steal our joy and affect our relationship with ourselves, others, and God and we grasp to find ways to cope with disappointments, heartaches, loss, and stress.

I hope to give you a safe place to be known and that we, together, can work to find healing in and redemption of the really hard places in your life.  Change and growth can be hard and yet I firmly believe they are possible.  You are not alone and there is hope.  It would be a privilege for me to walk with you on your journey towards healing and wholeness.”
