LaTonya Allen is currently in the Master of Arts in Counseling at Covenant Theological Seminary. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Auburn Montgomery. Prior to her move to Saint Louis, she served the community as a Mentoring Specialist with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, as well as worked with children and families through her leadership with the YMCA.
While working with children and families is a passion, in recent years she has developed a passion for working with women through providing birth doula services. She has experienced the beauty and challenges of motherhood, personally and by working with women. This transitional moment in a woman’s life has fueled a desire to help women explore the various issues and transitional moments in life.
LaTonya supports clients as they explore identity and direction as they face crossroads/challenges. She helps clients develop strategies and skills to manage life stressors and transitions. She enjoys working with individuals and families, specifically women, children, and young adults.
“The reason I want to help people is because I feel like life presents many challenges and crossroads. Life oftentimes can be confusing and lonely, I want to be able to create a space where clients are free to explore and discover creative ways to engage with their specific circumstance or challenge.”
