Sparkle understands that life can be painful. Loss, hardships, harm, and injury can leave you feeling stuck. Relationships can leave you feeling broken. A low self-image can leave you feeling hopeless. Being different can put you at odds with the systems you live within. And even if you aren’t sure why you feel bad, sadness and worry can feel all consuming. As a person who knows what it’s like to struggle with loss, illness, differences, hardships, Sparkle experienced working with caring counselors who walked with her in the midst of her complexities. Because of this Sparkle has dedicated her work to offering that same gift to others.
Sparkle’s approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and relational. She works with adolescents and adults (age 8 and up) navigating trauma, grief, relational wounds, identity concerns, chronic stress, illness and emotional overwhelm. She integrates approaches such as narrative therapy, DBT-informed skills, experiential therapy, somatic awareness, psychoeducation, and creative expression.
“I believe that healing happens in safe, collaborative relationships where clients are seen as whole people — mind, body, spirit, and story. Because of that I work to make therapy a space where your complexities, pain, sorrow, and uncertainty are welcome so that you are supported, understood, and empowered to move toward possibilities of healing and meaningful change.”
Sparkle received her Master of Counseling from Covenant Theological Seminary. She also holds a Master of Theological Studies Degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary via The Three Fourteen Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the International Academy of Design and Technology.
